How to use motorcycle routes on Apple Watch

Finish the route on iPhone first

Create, reorder, and review the itinerary on iPhone, where the full route editor and map preview are available. Give stops short, recognizable names so the list remains useful at a glance on the watch.

Only non-completed itineraries and the active ride state are sent to the companion. If a route is already marked done, duplicate it into a draft before preparing a new ride.

Check that the route has reached the watch

The iPhone and Apple Watch exchange route and ride state through Apple's WatchConnectivity system. Open Strada on the watch before departure and confirm that the expected itinerary and stop order are visible.

Do this check while the phone is easy to reach. The companion is designed for a prepared route, not for rebuilding a missing itinerary from the wrist.

• Expected route title is present.
• Stops appear in the planned order.
• The paired iPhone is reachable if you intend to start or stop a ride or use Google Maps or Waze.
• Location permissions match the ride features you plan to use.

Start and stop the ride from your wrist

When the paired iPhone is reachable, the watch can request start and stop actions and display the resulting active-route context. A Watch location that is already available can support Strada's smart-start behavior around a nearby planned stop.

Treat smart start as an aid, not a substitute for checking the selected stop. GPS accuracy, permissions, and system delivery can affect location-based behavior.

Choose where navigation opens

Apple Maps opens directly on Apple Watch. A Google Maps or Waze handoff is sent through the paired iPhone, which must be available to complete the action.

The same waypoint limits and dropped-stop warnings used on iPhone apply to the watch handoff. Review a long itinerary before departure and split it into useful sections when necessary.

Know what stays on iPhone

The watch companion does not edit routes, display Strada's route maps, or manage ride memories. Those tasks stay on the iPhone, where they can be handled with more context and less distraction.

Use the wrist for a route list, stop detail, ride state, and navigation launch. Make larger changes only when stopped safely.
