This Privacy Policy explains how Strada (the "app"), an iOS, iPadOS and watchOS application for planning motorcycle routes, handles your information. Strada is an independent app developed by Berardino Chiarello (the "developer", "we", "us"). We built Strada to need as little of your data as possible.

The short version

No account, no sign-up, no login.
No advertising and no cross-app tracking.
Optional analytics and crash reports — off until you turn them on in Settings.
Your routes and ride history live on your device.
If you enable iCloud, that data syncs only through your own private iCloud account, which we cannot access.
We do not sell or rent your personal data; optional service providers are described below.

Information the app uses

Location. With your permission, Strada uses your device location to detect which planned stop you are near and offer a route from there, and to center the map when you request it. Map searches can use the area visible on screen. On Apple Watch, the watch's own location can suggest a nearby starting stop. If you grant "Always" access on iPhone, Strada can also check location in the background during an active ride to notify you as you approach a planned stop. Strada does not record a GPS track or build a history of where you have been.

Routes, stops and ride log. The itineraries you create, the stops you add, the completion notes or ratings you record, and photo memories you attach are stored locally using Apple's on-device storage. If you have iCloud enabled, this content can sync across your own devices through Apple iCloud.

Imported and exported files. When you import or export a .strada route, or export a GPX file, that file is handled on your device and shared only when and where you choose. Strada does not currently import GPX.

Diagnostics. The app writes operational messages to Apple's on-device unified logging system to help troubleshoot problems such as routing or permission errors.

Analytics, crash reports and purchases

Analytics and crash reports (optional). To understand which features get used and to fix crashes, Strada can use Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics. Analytics and Crashlytics collection is off by default until you explicitly opt in, and you can turn it back off any time in the app's Settings. Strada does not use this data to track you across other apps or websites. See Google's privacy information.

Purchases. Strada Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system, and Apple processes the payment. To unlock what you bought across your devices, Strada uses RevenueCat to check your purchase status. The app does not pass a Strada account, your name, or your Apple ID; RevenueCat uses its anonymous app-user identifier. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Configuration. Strada uses Firebase Remote Config to fetch small settings such as policy links, service messages, and app-update information. This service is separate from the optional analytics switch; Google's handling of technical request data is described in its privacy information linked above.

Website analytics

Controller and contact. For the website, the data controller is Berardino Chiarello. You can contact us at planeatmobileapp@gmail.com.

Purpose and legal basis. Only after your explicit consent, the website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand page views and meaningful interactions, such as the button that takes you to the App Store. The legal basis is consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Consent is optional and the website works without analytics.

Data and identifiers. The events we configure do not send names, email addresses, route data or precise location. After consent, Google Analytics may process browser or device identifiers, first-party cookies, technical connection data, and page and interaction information. Google uses IP addresses at collection time for technical functions and approximate geolocation, and states that Analytics does not log or store them.

Recipient, transfers and retention. Google Analytics is the provider that receives this data on our behalf; processing may involve transfers outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards described in Google's documentation. Your analytics choice is stored locally in your browser until you change it or clear this website's data. Event-level data in Google Analytics is kept for 2 months, then deleted or aggregated according to the Analytics property settings.

Choice and withdrawal. If you reject or close the banner, the website does not load Google Analytics. You can change or withdraw consent at any time using the "Review analytics choices" link in the footer. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before it.

Your website-data rights. Where applicable, you can ask for access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection or portability, as well as withdraw consent. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. For more about Google's processing, see the Google Analytics privacy information and Google Privacy Policy.

Handoff to map apps

Strada does not provide turn-by-turn navigation itself. When you start navigating, Strada hands the route or the next leg to the map app you choose: Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze. Once the handoff happens, that app takes over and its own privacy policy and terms apply to anything you do there. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of whichever navigation app you use.

What we do not do

We do not require or create user accounts.
We do not run advertising or marketing trackers.
We do not create public user or trip profiles.
We do not transmit your location history to us or to third parties.

Apple services

Strada relies on Apple frameworks (such as MapKit for maps and routing, and iCloud for optional sync). Your use of these is also governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. If you download the app from the App Store, Apple handles App Store data as described in its own policies.

Children's privacy

Strada is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Because your data lives on your device and in your own iCloud, you stay in control. You can delete any route, the entire ride log, or the app itself at any time, which removes the data from the device. Managing your iCloud data is done through your Apple ID settings.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, note the change in the app or its App Store listing.
